"Always Woke Art" Photography Contest

The “Always Woke Art” Photography Contest is inspired by the works of great photographers who captured the spirit, creativity, and resilience of African Americans during the Harlem Renaissance and Black Arts Movement such as James Latimer Allen, Coreen Simpson and Gordon Parks. These great photographers captured images that revealed the lifestyles, joys and pain of African Americans in all walks of life. Their work continues to inspire photographers today. Students will have the opportunity to photograph images that depict their own perspective on the modern-day experiences of African Americans. Examples of subjects can include lifestyle images like friends and/or family gatherings and environment or neighborhood scenery. Images can be in black and white or color.

Enter today for a chance to win a scholarship or cash prize! Professional photographers/artists will judge entries in two age groups: Junior (age 11-13) and Senior (age 14-18), with 1 winner selected from each age group. Winners will be notified by email in April 2019.

Omega Alpha Omega Awards First Scholarship at Chartering Luncheon

Tiffeny Espinosa, a graduating senior from the Frisco ISD, received a $2,500 scholarship and new laptop as our first order of business, which was to provide community service during our chartering luncheon celebration.
